CITY HALL GOSSIP

Dr. William Winters, Southern Illinois University Government Department, has announced a new municipal administrative intern program. The program is scheduled to start this summer. Interested municipalities may contact Dr. Winters at the University, in Carbondale . . . Peoria and East St. Louis have placed their police department on 40-hour week . . . The city councils of Rock Island and Danville have adopted the first master plans for their respective cities . . . Several Illinois municipalities have held recent censuses: Decatur, from 67,788 to 76,718, an increase of 8,930; Lincolnshire from 209 to 309, the village has been incorporated since July, 1957; Gibson City, from 3,029 to 3,351, an increase of 322 . . . Aurora has recently placed into service its new $50,000 fire station . . . Forsyth, a community of about 365 persons in Ma-con County, has voted to incorporate . . . Alvin J. Keller, finance director at Bloomington, was selected to receive the city's first monthly merit award. A city employee is to be selected each month on his merit and honored by a $50 bond donated by local businessmen . . . Mayor Charles Wellner and the city council of Naperville have created a new position of City Administrator. The new post is to be filled by James Turner, who was formerly the city's electrical engineer . . . Jacob B. Dumelle, Director of Inspections, Peoria, has been appointed city manager at Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Mr. Owens was formerly manager at Golden Valley, Minnesota . . . Charles Fenwick, as a trustee, Mundelein . . . John Pauley, Charleston, new chief of police . . . Roscoe W. Graves has been appointed Health Commissioner, Decatur . . . Stanley Kern as Clerk at Seatonville.
