Mayor Daley's Team Wins Title

The Municipal Stars, who are sponsored by Mayor Richard J. Daley, Chicago, won their second successive championship in the Lake Shore Softball League by defeating International Harvester, 16-5. The Stars now are undefeated in fifteen straight games. The win clinched the title for the Mayor's team. In the championship game, the Municipal Stars banged out seventeen hits with Anthony Palmsone, Stanley Kiwala, Jocko Becich and Jim Porcelli collecting two hits apiece. Manager of the Mayor's Municipal Stars is John Juravich, ex-lllini and former coach at Harper High School in Chicago. The Lake Shore League consists of the following business firms, which are located in the Chicago downtown area: Mayor Daley's Municipal Stars; International Harvester; Chicago Town Club; People's Gas; Admiral Corporation; Askania Regulators; Schmidt, Garden and Erickson; Hart Schaffner and Marx, and Kaiser Aluminum.
