AN ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION BASIC INSTRUCTION PROGRAMS

This publication is a result of a periodic in-depth analyses conducted along with a continuous evaluation of all phases of curricular programs. The basic purposes of this project envisioned was 1.) to determine current status of the basic instruction programs; 2.) to ascertain students' needs and desires relative to physical education, and 3.) to develop alternatives to the present basic instruction program structure. The underlying premise of the study was to improve the respective programs through an evaluation of the stated purposes.

The Real Estate Research Corporation has recently issued the final volume of its "Comprehensive Development Impact Study," Whose purpose was to project the burdens and benefits to nearby, local communities, from the National Accelerator Laboratory. This paper reviews the findings of RERC's study, and the implications of that study which are of relevance to the goals of the research underway at the University of Chicago.
