Conference Report

The 1971 Conference Program Committee has been at work for the past few months and is beginning to shape up the educational sessions.

Present plans indicate that there will be a minimum of 50 educational sessions directed toward commissioners and board members; administrators; supervisory and program level staff; maintenance personnel; therapeutic recreators; those interested in research; and students.

This year for the first time, the Conference is scheduled on a weekend which should provide for better accommodations for commissioners and board members who have found it difficult in the past to attend because of their job responsibilities. Therefore, the Conference will begin on Friday, November 19, with the strong emphasis directed to the staff, and Saturday and Sunday, November 20 and 21, with more sessions planned for the commissioners and board members.

Tentative plans call for the opening luncheon on Friday with the annual banquet set for Saturday night.

The Sunday program has not been formalized as yet, but more than likely if educational sessions are conducted, they will be directed to commissioners and board members.

Suggestions in this area as well as others are welcome from the membership of both IAPD and IPRS. Those who have suggestions should direct them to the Springfield office.

As in the past, an attractive program for wives is being planned. Tours of both the educational and entertainment variety are also being planned which will be open to all delegates.

The Stouffer's Riverfront Inn is a beautiful, new facility located a stone's throw from the Arch and just across the street from Busch Stadium in beautiful downtown St. Louis.

Make sure the dates of November 19-20-21 are reserved for attendance at the Annual Conference. Future issues of Illinois Parks and Recreation magazine will carry progress reports as developed by the Conference Planning Committee with the complete Conference program scheduled for the September/October issue.
