GOVERNOR HELPS PROMOTE
ILLINOIS PARKS & RECREATION
THROUGH ARBOR DAY ACTIVITIES

For the first time this year the Illinois Association of Park Districts, through its Community Relations Committee, conducted a promotional program of Illinois parks and recreation, through a common day—Arbor Day.

Governor Richard B. Ogilvie gave assistance by being photographed with IAPD officials in promotion that was used in newspapers throughout the State.

The Community Relations Committee used every means possible, including newspapers, radio, magazines, news letters, local TV stations and even direct mailings to encourage districts throughout the State to promote parks and recreation through local community involvement on Arbor Day.

From all indications the program was a big success and the ground work has been established for an increased program next year. To help the committee do an even better job next year, districts who sponsored an activity on Arbor Day are requested to make a brief outline and forward it along with any pictures taken to the Springfield office.
