After nearly five years of study and preparation, the Sterling Park District will complete their new Marina this spring.

The facility will be completely financed at a cost of $121,500 under House Bill #1732 of the State of Illinois Boating Act Fund. The Boating Fund is administered by the Illinois Department of Conservation.

The marina is set on 31 acres adjacent to the Rock River.

Many Facilities Planned

The marina will have a variety of facilities including concrete boat ramps, parking lot and roadways, boarding docks, harbor house, mooring slips, boat house, gas dock, and complete with light, water and rest room facilities.

Eventually the Park District will add complete camping facilities for fifty camping units.

Springfield Park District

The Springfield Park District recently was reimbursed $57,150 for land purchased as an addition to Carpenter Park.

The reimbursement came from the Land and Water Recreation Fund administered by the Illinois Department of Conservation.

Carpenter Park is a 400 acre park bordering the Sangamon River on the north side of Springfield.

The park will be developed as an outdoor education and recreation center.
