F. C. Mazur has been appointed Director of the Lake Bluff Park District. Before accepting this position, Mazur served as Assistant Director, Special Services Department, U.S. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.

Mazur makes his home in Waukegan.

Allyson Herzeg was recently appointed Recreation Supervisor for the Naperville Park District. She replaced Charleen Hoskins who resigned to accept a position with a retirement home.

Miss Herzeg is a native of Skokie, where she graduated from high school. She was active in teen activities with the Skokie Park District, where she was a member of the Student Recreation Council.

She also worked with the Skokie Park District in its increased leadership playground program. She is a graduate of Indiana University where she received her B.S. Degree in recreation.

For the past two years she has been a recreation supervisor with the Decatur Park District. Although her experience in recreation dealt with all ages, she has a keen interest in teens.

Dr. A. V. Sapora
Dr. A. V. Sapora

Dr. Allen V. Sapora, Head of the Department of Recreation and Park Adminstraton at the University of Illinois, has been elected president of the Society for Park and Recreation Educators.

Dr. Sapora was installed in his new post at the National Congress for Recreation and Parks in Philadelphia, Pa., September 27—October 1, 1970.

The Society will hold its annual mid-year board of directors meeting and a special symposium at the University of Illinois' Champaign-Urbana campus in the Spring.

Dr. Sapora is a past president of the Illinois Park and Recreation Society.

Sevan Sarkisian

Sevan Sarkisian is the new Coordinator of Recreation Leadership at the College of DuPage.

Prior to his appointment he served in a number of positions during the past ten years for the Department of Parks and Recreation in Evanston. His most recent position with the Evanston department was Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.

He is a graduate of Park College in Missouri, where he won letters in basketball, baseball and soccer. He also has a Masters Degree in Recreation from Indiana University.

J. Karl Foss

J. Karl Foss has been appointed to the position of Superintendent of Parks for the Naperville Park District, Naperville, Illinois. Foss, 35, has been employed by the Park District of Highland Park for the past eleven years, serving first as Administrative Assistant, then as Assistant Superintendent.

Foss, a director of the Midwest Park and Recreation Association, has also served on the Highland Park Beautification Commission for the past six years.

As head of the Naperville Park District's park division, Foss will be in charge of park construction, maintenance of parks and facilities and new improvements.

Eyvan W. Baer of Summerfield, Illinois, has been appointed to fill the unexpired term of Howard O. Haefner, deceased, on the Board of Commissioners of the Horner Park District.

Baer is a member of the Summerfield Lion's Club, the newly-created Lebanon Unit School District, and on the official board of the First Mennonite Church in Summerfield. He is serving as chairman of the Citizen's Committee to develop the Summerfield Community Park and was instrumental in organizing a summer recreation program for the past two seasons for the children in that area.

A veteran of the Korean war, Baer, his wife and three sons and a daughter, live on a farm south of Summerfield where he raises grain crops.

Ted Blech
Ted Blech

Theodore Blech, former Supervisor of Recreation for the Glenview Park District, has been employed as Handicap Program coordinator for the Division of Parks and Memorials in the state Department of Conservation.

Blech will work directly with special education and recreation districts throughout the state in planning for the use of state parks by handicapped children.

There are thousands of acres of land that can be used by special school districts in a variety of recreation programming for various types of handicapped children.

Blech, a graduate of George Williams College with a degree in parks and recreation administration, will locate the Handicap Office in Chicago.

Eric Joe Stevens has been appointed to the position of Recreation Supervisor for the Department of Parks and Recreation, Normal.

Stevens is a graduate of Indiana University with a major in Recreation.
