Ronald H. Dodd

Ronald H. Dodd is the new Recreation Superintendent for the Arlington Heights Park District replacing Demaree Carns who moved with her husband to Kansas City.

Prior to his Arlington Heights appointment he served as Recreation Superintendent for the Elmhurst Park District and was a supervisor for the Skokie Park District.

Dodd is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

He is active with the Illinois Park and Recreation Society and is serving his second term on the board. Ron has served as chairman of several IPRS committees and is the current IPRS Conference Chairman with the responsibility of coordinating the educational program area of the 1971 state conference.

Married and the father of two children, Ron still finds time to be active in local, civic and community organizations.

Robert Eugene Busse is the new Director of the Alton Park and Recreation Commissions replacing Jack Philbrick who recently joined the staff of the Niles Park District.

Busse was elevated to the director's position after serving the Department since April of 1967 as Superintendent of Parks and Forestry.

A veteran of four years in the Navy, he was Director of Parks and Recreation at Eagle Butte, South Dakota before joining the staff in Alton.

He is married and the father of three children.

Janet Kuhlman
Janet Kuhlman

Janet Kuhlman was recently appointed by the Division of Parks and Memorials, Department of Conservation, to a new position of Coordinator of Special Events. She will be connected with the Division's Interpretative - Recreation Section.

Jan is a graduate of the University of Illinois and prior to her new appointment served as a recreation supervisor for the Park District of Franklin Park.

Active in a number of organizations, Jan is presently serving on the Board of the Illinois Park and Recreation Society.

In her new position she will be responsible for planning and organizing special events on a state-wide basis throughout the State Park System.

Debbie Reynolds

Debbie Reynolds (not of Hollywood fame) has joined the Decatur Park District's Recreation Department as a Recreation Supervisor.

Debbie is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois. She replaces Allyson Herzeg who assumed a similar position with the Naperville Park District.

Debbie has worked part-time for two summers with the Decatur Recreation Department and has an extensive background in 4-H work. Her appointment was effective December 1, 1970.

Alicia Smith
Alicia Smith

Alicia Smith has been appointed Recreation Supervisor for the Arlington Heights Park District. She formerly served as a playground leader with the Racine, Wisconsin Parks and Recreation Department before moving to Skokie where she served as a recreation leader.

Alicia is presently serving on the Board of IPRS representing the leaders. She is a graduate of La Crosse State College in Wisconsin.

K. Ross Ricks
K. Ross Ricks

K. Ross Ricks is the new Director of the Addison Park District. Before moving to Addison, Ross served in a variety of positions including four years as an Area Superintendent of Recreation for the Peoria Park District; three years as Superintendent of Recreation for Elmhurst; and two and one-half years as Director of the Harvey Park District.

Ross is a graduate of the University of Illinois with both a B. S. and M. S. Degree in Recreation.

He is married and the father of two sons.

Active in civic and community organizations, Ross is a nine year member of the Lions' Club and is presently serving on the board of directors of the Illinois Park and Recreation Society representing the administrative section.

Dorothy L. Doering

Dorothy L. Doering was appointed November 2, 1970 to the position of Recreation and Public Relations Coordinator with the Springfield Recreation Commisson.

She had served for the past eight years as Assistant Director of the Cicero Recreation Association. She has also assisted with IPRS work since 1965.

Dorothy attended Hutchinson, Kansas Community College and Wichita State University where she studied art and majored in elementary education. In addition to her college work she has an extensive background in public relations, writing and recreation programming.

Active in civic and community organizations, she is married and the mother of five teenagers (including two sets of twins.)

Rodney Denisar, former center director for the Arlington Heights Park District, has been named supervisor of recreation for the Glenview Park District.

He is a graduate of Western Illinois University with a degree in Recreation and Park Administration. His field work was done with the Elk Grove Park District.

Denison will be in charge of 18 varied programs offered throughout the year, including softball, basketball, football and bowling.

James Horner
James Horner

James Homer, former Executive Director of the Galena Art and Recreation Center, has been appointed Recreation Superintendent for the Crystal Lake Park District. James is a graduate of Indiana University with a B. S. degree in Recreation Administration and is working towards his Master's Degree at the same school.

Prior to his Galena appointment, he served two years as a Recreation Leader with the Department of Parks and Recreation in Detroit, Michigan.

He is also a graduate of the Executive Development Program, conducted by Indiana University.

Raymond J. Lindblad
Raymond J. Lindblad

Raymond J. Lindblad is now serving on the Board of the Illinois Association of Park Districts.

Ray is president of the Lindblad Construction Company in Joliet and is also serving as president of the Joliet Park District.

He is a registered architect in Illinois and holds a B.S. degree in architecture from Armour Institute of Technology (now Illinois Institute of Technology).

A Navy veteran of World War II, he held the rank of Lt. Sr. Grade.

Ray is quite active in community work and holds a Life Membership in the Illinois Historical Society.

He was first elected to the park board in 1963 and re-elected in 1969.

Barbara Williams
Barbara Williams

Barbara Williams is a new board member serving a two year term on the board of directors of the Illinois Association of Park Districts.

Barbara is married to publisher Charles W. Williams who publishes the Star Newspaper in the south suburban area of Chicago.

She did her undergraduate work at Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa; William & Mary at Richmond, Virginia; and the University of Iowa where she received her B. S. Degree in Occupational Therapy.

Active in civic and community affairs, she is the mother of four children and is presently enjoying the life of a housewife in addition to serving as President of the Olympia Fields Park District.

Allan A. Weissburg
Allan A. Weissburg

Allan A. Weissburg, president of the Skokie Park District, is now serving his first of two years on the Illinois Association of Park District's Board of Directors.

He is a retired electrical contractor and a 35 year resident of Skokie.

His long background of public service brings a mature outlook to present day IAPD operations.

He is a former Skokie Village Treasurer and interim Mayor; member of the Board of Education School District #73 and president of same for 12 years; member of Niles Township Department of Special Education and chairman of the Building Committee which supervises their building program; and member of Board of Directors of the Niles Township Visiting Nurses Association.
