Mr. Jim Storms has recently joined the Oak Park Recreation Department as Director of Longfellow Center.

He is a graduate of Western Illinois University with a Bachelors degree in Recreation and Park Administration.

Last summer Storms was the recipient of a student internship in local government. For this he worked as the Summer Playground Director in Bushnell, Illinois.

Previous to this he spent three summers working with the Inner City Reach Out Program in Chicago.

Gary Swigart, 27, has recently been hired by the Dundee Township Park District as its Sports and Athletic Supervisor. He is from Farmer City, Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University where he graduated with a degree in Physical Education in 1968. His most recent work experience has been Recreation Specialist in the United States Air Force. Prior to entering the Air Force, he taught Physical Education in St. Charles and worked as a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University.

At the Park District, Gary will be in charge of organizing, planning and conducting the comprehensive athletic program offered throughout the park district.

PARK DISTRICT HIRES FULL TIME DIRECTOR
Kathleen Young Faber has been appointed Director of Parks and Recreation by the Oakbrook Terrace Community Park District Board of Commissioners. Mrs. Faber holds a Masters Degree in Recreation and Park Administration from the University of Illinois. She has worked with Champaign and Bartlett Park Districts, and has a varied cultural arts background.

David Beres has been appointed Director of Parks and Recreation for the Bolingbrook Park District. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana State University in Park and Recreation Administration. Prior to his appointment with Bolingbrook, he served as Superintendent of Parks and Recreation with the Vigo County Department in Terre Haute, Indiana.

In order to foster courteous and professional service for park patrons, the Elmhurst Park District has formed the Ranger — Police organization. Forest Preserve districts such as DuPage County are forming their own departments. As part of this program, Head Ranger Kobrow and Ranger Foreman completed basic police training under the Illinois Police Training Act at the Lisle, Illinois facility. All rangers for the Elmhurst Park District, be they full-time or part-time, are now required to undergo minimum training of 240 hours at a State facility.
