IPRS Sports and Activities


1st Place Women's Volleyball—Oak Park

The Sports and Activities Committee of the Illinois Park and Recreation Society has been hard at work planning and conducting tournaments throughout the state.

Women's Volleyball tournament was hosted by the Franklin Park Park District. Winners were the women of Oak Park, second place went to Wheeling.

Men's Basketball Championship was captured by the "Powerful Rich" team from the Park Forest Park District, who fought a hard battle against the second place "Golfview Joker" team from the Glenview Park District. The tourney was hosted by the Arlington Heights Park District.

Men's Volleyball State Tournament was won by the "Northwest Turners" of the Arlington Heights Park District as they spiked to defeat the "Fubars" of the Highland Park Recreation Department. Ten teams participated in the finals hosted by the Des Plaines Park District.

Cooperation from districts throughout the state have made possible the excellent participation in all tournaments. This year the finals of several events took two days to complete.

Spring and summer events include golf, mens softball, tennis, skeet shooting, high school soft-ball, and girls softball.

IPRS SUMMER SPORTS SCHEDULE

Your department is invited to participate in any or all of the tournaments listed below. To be eligible to participate in I.P.R.S. tournaments, eligibility form below must be submitted together with ELIGIBILITY FEE of $5.00 PER TEAM, PER TOURNAMENT to the I.P.R.S. Sports and Athletics Committee Chairman, Dan Newport, 225 Prospect, Elmhurst, Illinois 60126. Make checks payable to I.P.R.S. Sports and Athletics Committee.

No fees will be refunded once payment is received. Advanced mailings covering tournament details will be sent to each department that pays the fees. Entry fees must be mailed to Committee Chairman (address listed above) by registration deadline listed below.
