SOCIETY NOTES

By Kay Kastel Forest

In March, the IPRS Board accepted the resignation of Jack White as president of IPRS and the current president-elect, Richard Johns of Glenview, took office. Because of this, a special election for president-elect will be held in May. All voting members should be receiving ballots soon. Please show interest in your Society and return the ballots. The election process gives all members the opportunity to participate in the operation of IPRS.

Another opportunity for members to communicate their ideas on the Society will be the Special Task Force Questionnaire. All voting members should receive the 12-page questionnaire by the end of May. The Board asks that members take the time to answer the questions, communicate their ideas, and return the questionnaire. Data will be tabulated and given to the Special Task Force committee for analysis and interpretation. Members will be given an opportunity to react to the report at the annual conference. We need your input. Return the questionnaire promptly!

The Recognitions Committee is circulating information to the members regarding the annual IPRS Awards. Cooperate with this committee in nominating deserving professionals and laymen in our State. Categories include the following: Fellow Award, Professional and Special Citation Awards, Community Service Award, and Honorary Membership.

Congratulations are in order for several of our members. John Bruns, the outgoing president of our Student Branch, and the outgoing officers are to be commended for the excellent job they have done in uniting the Illinois Students into one of the best organizations in the country. Dennis Hayes and his committee should be congratulated for the successful planning and operation of the IPRS Student Workshop.

More indepth articles are needed for the magazine. We ask that anyone interested in writing contact the IPRS office.

Don't forget to make your reservations for the May 28th Workshop on Communications.

See you next month.

IAPD and IPRS believe that the democratic process functions best through frank and open discussion. Material published in this magazine, therefore often presents divergent and controversial points of view which do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the two sponsoring organizations.
