SHARON L. PEDDLE has recently been hired as Program Supervisor for the Elk Grove Park District. Sharon is a 1976 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a B.S. degree in Parks and Recreation. Previous to her appointment,

Sharon has worked part time for the Highland Park and Buffalo Grove Park Districts and the Lake Zurich Recreation Department. Sharon's responsibilities include the Summer Enrichment Program, Playgrounds, the Lawn Concert series, after school and general programming.

STEPHEN SCHOLTEN has recently been appointed to the position of Athletic Supervisor for the Elk Grove Park District. He is a graduate of Illinois State University-Normal with a B.S. degree in Parks and Recreation. Steve had previously completed his field work experience with Elk Grove and was employed as the coordinator of Special Projects for the Park District. Steve's responsibilities include supervision of all Athletic leagues, general programming and liaison with Park District Sponsored Athletic Associations.

JODY UNRUH has been named the Supervisor of Recreation for the Streamwood Park District. Miss Unruh is a June graduate of George Williams College of Downers Grove, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration. She has been employed at the Park District since June 1976 as Pool Manager and Program Instructor and was formerly associated with the Bartlett Park District for three years. She is affiliated with the Illinois Park & Recreation Association, the National Recreation & Park Association, and the Suburban Parks and Recreation Association, and served on the 1976 IPRA Constitution Committee. Jody's duties at the Park District include running an established year round recreation program as well as coordinating special event programs.

DAVID HEFFERNAN, of Northbrook has been named the first Superintendent of Conservation and Outdoor Education of the Fox Valley Park District. The post was created by Park Board members late in 1976 to aid them in establishing a nature center along the east bank of the Fox River in North Aurora.

The center will combine exhibits and environmental resource materials to serve school districts and the growing Fox Valley population. Nature trails and programs of nature study will be developed.

Heffernan served as naturalist for the Cook County Forest Preserve Center in Northbrook from 1973 until he took the Aurora job.

He was also consultant in environmental education for the Illinois Office of Education and an instructor in environmental studies at the National College of Education in Evanston.

He was a teacher with the Chicago public school system from 1969 to 1973.

He has a degree in environmental science and history from Northeastern Illinois University and from University of Illinois respectively.

His articles on environmental subjects have appeared in publications such as "Journal of Wildlife Management" and "Journal of Great Lakes Research."

TED R. STERRETT, has recently been appointed to the position of Program and Facility Superintendent of the new W. L. "Les" McCullough Park for the Fox River Valley Pleasure Driveway and Park District, Aurora, Illinois. Sterrett, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from the University of Texas-El Paso. Prior to this appointment in Aurora he spent six years as a school teacher, athletic director and coach in El Paso, Texas; and also in Meridosia, Illinois.

Sterrett worked four and a half years as a Community Center Director for the Evanston Recreation Department in Evanston, Illinois; and for a year and a half as Director of Recreation for the Village of Glendale Heights, Illinois. He has had extensive experience in administering leisure service and sports programs for municipalities.

Sterrett has been a member of the Texas Education Association, Illinois Education Association, National Education Association, Illinois Park and Recreation Association, National Parks and Recreation Association, and the Suburban Parks and Recreation Association.

PAUL E. HEINKEL has been recently appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Recreation for the Fox River Valley Pleasure Driveway and Park District.

Heinkel received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Park & Recreation Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Before coming to Aurora he was the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation at Alton, where he helped carry out a complete municipal recreation program for senior citizens, adults and youths. His new responsibilities will include athletic coordinator, teen center supervisor, and advisor to special clubs and activities.

RALPH D. VORIS has been appointed Superintendent of Parks for the Fox River Valley Pleasure Driveway and Park District. Voris has been serving as Assistant Superintendent since 1972. His undergraduate degree is in Landscape Architecture and he is presently completing his Master's in Recreation and Park Administration, both degrees are from the University of Illinois.

Prior to coming with the Fox River Valley Park District, he served two years with the U.S. Army in Europe and had spent one year with the firm of Wm. James Spear & Associates, Landscape Architects.

QUINCY W. GREGORY, Superintendent of Parks for the Fox River Valley Park District, recently retired after 26 years of service to the Aurora community. Mr. Gregory was a landscape architect, a graduate of Cornell and the University of Massachusetts. After working in Boston and the New York Adirondack Mountains, Mr. Gregory came to Aurora to head-up the newly formed parks department. "Greg" designed and planted more than 35 parks in the township including many along the Fox River, and 7 innovative school-park sites. His enthusiasm and love of nature is apparent in the legacy he has left Auroraland.

His many friends wish him the best.

DEBORAH CARLSON has been recently appointed as a Recreation Coordinator with the Wheeling Park District. Some of her responsibilities include leadership of recreation programs as well as planning, implementation and supervision of various programs, special events and teen center.

Debbie is a 1975 graduate of Western Illinois University where she received her B.S. degree in Recreation and Park Administration.

VERNON VERSTRAETE, formerly Executive Director of the Kankakee Park District has recently been appointed to fill the position of Director of Parks with the Wheeling Park District. His 15 years of prior work experience included management of park and golf

course operations and administrative responsibility.

His duties with the Wheeling Park District will include park planning and development, construction supervision, and administration of park operation department.

BOB VENESS has recently been appointed as a Recreation Coordinator with the Wheeling Park District. His responsibilities include athletics, special events, and supervision of some recreation programs.

Prior to his appointment he worked in the park district's park operations department for about a year.

Bob is a 1975 graduate of Western Illinois University, where he received a B.S. in Recreation and Park Administration.
