IPRA highlites

by Kay Kastel Forest

It's that time of year when IPRA prepares for the election of new officers and board members. Ballots will be mailed to all Professionals and Associate Members. Please let your voice be heard and vote.

Fred Hall, IPRA President-elect is in the process of soliciting members who would like to become actively involved on an IPRA or a Section Committee. If you are interested in becoming professionally involved, the possibilities are endless. Just to name a few committees—Admissions and Standards, Ethics, Research, Continuing Education, Conference, Affirmative Action, Sports and Activities. Just call the IPRA office or fill out the form in the next newsletter.

IPRA will be holding a raffle for several weekend outings and a trip to Hawaii for seven days. Since this is a fund raising activity, we need the support of all of the members to make it successful. Each of the sections will be responsible for selling tickets and will also receive a percentage of the profit. The lucky winners will be drawn at the conference.

All present members of IPRA will receive an invoice for their dues in October. We hope these will be paid promptly.

Our membership has decreased slightly from previous years. We need the cooperation of all in soliciting new members. We hope to be doing some new and innovative programs next year, however without a good membership base this is impossible.

Don't forget that we need and want input into the operation of IPRA. Please feel free to contact the office or any of the board members with your comments.

Plan now to attend the annual conference on November 17-20 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. The hotel facilities are outstanding and over 100 quality educational sessions have been planned. Topics will cover all areas of parks, recreation, conservation, therapeutics and leisure. The conference will begin on Thursday, November 17, with a cocktail party in the exhibit hall at 4:30 p.m. Don't miss out. The pre-registration deadline is November 1 —after that time the cost goes up.

Hope to see all of you at the conference.
