■     Multi-Family Housing Energy Conservation Workbook, Illinois Institute of Natural Resources (no date), 128pp.

Owners, managers and maintenance persons connected with multi-family dwellings may save as much as 25 percent of their energy costs by following the steps suggested in the six sections of this manual. A detailed worksheet is provided for each section to aid in making a walk-through survey of a property.

■     Illinois Solar Greenhouse Compendium, Illinois Institute of Natural Resources (June 1980), unpaged.

This extremely attractive booklet with numerous photographs, line drawings and diagrams deals with one of the most rapidly growing areas in solar energy. It provides information on a variety of working systems around the state, along with technical and economic information, site locations and contact persons.

■     Child Molestation: The Criminal Justice System, Illinois Legislative Investigating Committee (October 1980), 203pp.

In this second report on sexual abuse of children, the committee concludes that Illinois law is adequate to deal with child molestation but that discretion affects such cases. It also found that the use of child witnesses is a major problem and that present programs to treat sex offenders appear to be inadequate. The third and final report on this issue will deal with the child victim.

■     Sexual Exploitation of Children, Illinois Legislative Investigating Commission (August 1980), 317pp.

In response to the growing public concern over the use of children in pornographic material and in acts of prostitution, the General Assembly in March 1977 directed the ILIC to study the issue of sexual abuse of children. The resulting report looks at the background of the problem, includes an interview with a child molester, describes some undercover approaches as well as law enforcement and legislative responses, and concludes with a number of specific recommendations.

■    Illinois: The Future, Final Report 1980 by the Task Force on the Future of Illinois (January 1980), 263 pp.

The task force which produced this massive report began its work in April 1978. Covered were such topics as the future of the state's economy, natural resources and energy, human services, and government. Background data and an agenda for action are included for each. In addition to the final report there are also five separate regional profiles as well as a 172-page document entitled, Human Services in Illinois: Trends and Projections to the Year 2000.

Items listed under State Documents have been received by the Documents Unit, Illinois State Library, Springfield, and are usually available from public libraries in the state through inter-library loan./A.J.M.D
