contest winners

Brookfield Zoo held a Lion Photo Contest earlier this year as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The grand prize winner and the first place winner in each of three categories are pictured here.

Frank J. Pipien, Chicago, won the grand prize for his photo of birds in flight (left, top). Charles Furlong of Dalton was the first place winner in the species in the wild category (left, bottom). The winner of the zoo animals category was Gene Bunker of Morris (above). Helen Lynch of Countryside was the first place winner in the cats category (lower right).
