The creativity of our colleagues is reflected in several of the articles in this issue. Traffic accidents in Peoria's parks have been reduced through an innovative enforcement program developed by the park police. The Elk Grove Park District reveals its success with a unique neighborhood park that offers novel recreational opportunities for persons of all ages.

In Wheaton, the park district has initiated an annual festival that is quickly becoming a community tradition, and the Le-mont Park District shares the secrets of its success with civic groups and volunteers.

In other articles, the statewide impact of the lawsuit against the Chicago Park District is explored, and the second in our three-part series about employment discrimination focuses on Illinois laws. This issue also looks at student internships and the American Coaching Effectiveness Program.

IPR photo contest

Rules

• The contest is for both amateur and professional photographers.

• Only color slides or photographs of a subject or theme related to parks and recreation may be entered. (Since IPR is published bimonthly, contestants are encouraged to consider seasonal themes — winter, spring, summer and fall.) Photographs must be 8 by 10 inches.

• Three photographs or slides per photographer may be entered. The contestant's name, address, phone number, title of photo/slide, and amateur/professional designation must be clearly written in ink on the slide or photograph.

• Contestants must be able to furnish the original negative if requested by the contest judges. The IPR assumes no responsibility for negatives or prints.

• To be eligible for a prize, a contestant must include a signed statement with each entry verifying that the picture/slide, or another closely similar picture of the same subject or situation, has not been entered by the photographer in any contest and will not be offered for publication.

IMPORTANT: Be sure you know the names and addresses of any recognizable persons appearing in your picture. In order for it to be considered, you must be able to get the written consent of those persons to permit use of the picture for publication.

• All entries become the property of the Illinois Parks and Recreation magazine.

• All entries must be postmarked by midnight September 1, 1985.

Judging

All qualifying entries will be judged the week of September 16, 1985. Winners will be announced at the Illinois Parks and Recreation Conference in November. The decision of the judges will be final.

Prizes

The contest will include a maximum of two winners in the amateur category and two in the professional category. Winners will receive a certificate of recognition from the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association. Their photo will be published on the cover of IPR during 1986.

As always, your comments about the magazine are welcomed.
