Changes in both content and format were initiated in recent issues of IPR to increase its readability and make it more helpful to you. These have included the addition of extra color pages and a "Letters to the Editor" section.

However, the IPR is now facing a serious dilemma which only you can help solve; that is, we need your articles for publication.

Your colleagues can benefit from reading about a successful program ... an innovative solution for a common problem ... an outstanding employee . . . any idea which can help improve the delivery of recreational services and enhance the status of the profession.

Please share your expertise with us! Preferred length of feature articles is 1,000 to 1,500 words, or four to six double-spaced typewritten pages. Shorter features are also welcomed.

If you're leary about getting those first few sentences on paper, or aren't quite sure how to develop an idea, I'll be happy to help. You can contact me at the IAPD office, 217 E. Monroe St., Suite 101, Springfield, IL 62701. Phone (217) 523-4554.

The deadline for the September/October magazine, the pre-conference issue, is July 31. Please let us hear from you. The welfare of IPR is at stake.

Sincerely,

Barb Valiukenas

Letters to the Editor

The Illinois Parks and Recreation magazine welcomes letters from its readers. Letters should be written to the editor and they should discuss issues and/or events. They must include the writer's name, address and phone number. It is preferred that letters be limited to two double-spaced typewritten pages in length. The editor reserves the right to edit, condense or reject any letter that does not meet these requirements.
