Start packing your bags for Peoria! The sneak preview article in this issue describes several of the unique programs and activities available at the 1986 Illinois Park and Recreation Conference. The complete program appears on pages 17 through 28.

In this issue we have recognized a variety of senior citizen recreational programs offered by agencies statewide. Glen Ellyn resident Anne Clarke shares her philosophy about the benefits of an exercise program, while senior citizens in Glenview initiate actions to assist themselves and the park district.

Two Senior Olympic competitions are also highlighted. The statewide contest in September keys on friendship, and the local event in Champaign County focuses on community cooperation. Lastly, the Recreation Programming Section of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) highlights the results of its senior program survey conducted earlier this year.

In addition, this issue contains articles about the Peoria Park District's efforts to meet the recreational needs of inner city residents, fund-raising activities by the Schaumburg Park Foundation, the Champaign Park District's blueprint for a successful internship program, and the benefits of a youth sports coaches' training program.

We're also featuring a pictorial review of Park, Recreation and Conservation Days with the Chicago White Sox and Cubs, IPRA's recent Celebrity Golf Classic and the IAPD/IPRA Joint Legislative Golf Outing.

We wish you enjoyable reading!
