The International Institute of Municipal Clerks announced that Linda M. Taets, Clerk/Treasurer of the Village of Tampico, has been awarded the designation of CERTIFIED MUNICIPAL CLERK for achieving the high educational, experience, and service requirements established by this Institute for attainment of this honor.

Marian Humes, Alderman, Chicago, was elected to the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities for a two year term.

The League was saddened to learn of the death of Audrey Tarron, Village Treasurer, Schram City and the death of Mayor H. R. Williams, Kirkland who served in that office for 15 years.

Financing Rural Health Care, a conference hosted by Illinois Lt. Governor George H. Ryan and coordinated by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Western Illinois University, will be held February 19 and 20, 1987 at the Springfield, Illinois Hilton hotel.

The conference features nationally recognized speakers from academic institutions, health care associations, government, and health care practitioners. Topic areas include rural health care financing issues, such as cost saving innovations, federal reimbursement changes, advantages of HMOs, recent trends in home patient care, and progressive non-hospital alternatives.
