ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL TREASURERS ASSOCIATION

The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association (IMTA) President Mary Ulrich, CIMT, CMFA, Peoria, recently presented a $500 IMTA grant to Eastern Illinois University (Kaylin Johns). The contribution is to be used to help maintain the Municipal Treasurers Institute at E.I.U. This special training program has been used by Treasurers to improve their technical public service skills. It is recommended for Municipal Treasurers and/or Finance Officers.

It is used in the criteria for Certification by the IMTA, and is recognized by the Certified Public Accounting Association for continued education credit. Further information about the fall institute may be obtained from Kaylin Johns at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL. 61920.

The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association will hold their Annual Spring Seminar at the Continental Regency Hotel in Peoria June 29th and June 30th. This technical seminar agenda includes many professional experts in various fields. A personal development section pertaining to the 1986 Tax Act by Attorney Sutkowski will be one of the Seminar's highlights.

Other speakers and subjects are as follows: Larry Frang — Legislative Update; Jarl Tremail — Grant Writing; Kaylin Johns/Barbara Weyrauch — Certification; Eric Margolis/Jim McGiIl — Treasurers Reports; Cleora Rawlins — US&C Treasurers Association; Charles Becker — Bonding to Insure; Dwight Anderson — Pension Funds; Charles Couri — Taxes on Fringe Benefits; Patrick Rea — New Products for Consideration; Judy Koehler — 200th Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution; and Jack Teplitz — T.I.F. Districts. Some changes or additions may be made to this broad range of subjects.
