        DESK . . . .

Lee M. Burkey as of April 30 completed 25 years service to the Village of LaGrange serving as a Village Trustee, Village President and Village Attorney.

Mr. Burkey has served in the LaGrange local government longer than anyone else . . .

Frank W. German, Jr., CMC, Village Clerk, Tinley Park, Ill., joined IIMC in December 1972, and has made numerous contributions since then. As immediate past IIMC Director (1984-87) he has participated on such committees as Public Relations, Academy, Goals, and Institute Review. As Chairman of the Institute Review Committee he set up the format whereby all municipal clerks institutes are reviewed periodically. Presently he is working with the University of Georgia to produce a videotape on the role of the municipal clerk. Active in public relations and public speaking he has conducted workshops and written articles for IIMC. In addition he participated in the IIMC study tours to England and to Australia/New Zealand . . .

Anita L. Carlton, City Clerk of the City of Galesburg, Illinois, has been awarded the designation "Certified Municipal Clerk" (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) for achieving its high educational, experience, and service requirements.

Mrs. Carlton became City Clerk of Galesburg in August 1983 . . .

City Manager Leslie T. Allen, Decatur, Illinois recently announced the retirement of Corporation Counsel Hilmer C. Landholt, effective May 27, 1987.

Mr. Landholt completed over 24 years of service to the City as Corporation Counsel.

Prior to his employment with the City, Mr. Landholt served in the State of Illinois General Assembly, as State's Attorney for Macon County, and as an attorney in private practice.

Manager Allen described Landholt as a good friend, a trusted and loyal associate who made significant contributions to the City and the community during his tenure with the City of Decatur. Landholt is an outstanding example of a public servant who performed his duties in a manner that created public confidence and brought integrity to the profession.

John Couter, first assistant corporation counsel, has been appointed Acting Corporation Counsel. •
