        DESK . . . .

Dear Transportation Colleague:

As part of the nationwide Transportation 2020 effort, the Illinois Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Illinois Highway Users Conference, is sponsoring a public forum on the Future Transportation in Illinois. This event will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 1987 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Brookens Library Auditorium at Sangamon State University in Springfield.

The purpose of this forum is to seek input on national transportation policies for the 1990s and beyond. I encourage your written and oral comments. A registration form for attendees is enclosed for your convenience. In order to provide speaking opportunities for all interested parties, oral testimony will be limited to five to ten minutes.

Those who wish to present oral testimony should contact Dan Dees, Deputy Director of Planning and Programming at (217) 782-6332 by November 20th. Written comments should be submitted by December 10th.

The Department of Transportation and the Illinois Highway Users Conference urge you to take advantage of this opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns about the future of transportation in Illinois. I look forward to seeing you December 1.

Sincerely,

Gregory W. Baise
Secretary
Illinois Department of Transportation
