State Fair Highlight — Local Officials Day Reception!

Addison Park District vice president and IAPD board member Don Jessen, with his wife, Dolores, enjoyed lunch and great entertainment while visiting the Illinois State Fair.

The Decatur Park Singers produced a high energy, creative medley of popular music themes to entertain "Local Officials Day" participants.

Gov. Jim Thompson (left), and IAPD executive director Dr. Ted Flickinger (right), welcomed and thanked those assembled for being committed to serve as local community leaders.

On Saturday, August 13, 1988, nearly 3,000 local officials and their families from across the State enjoyed sharing lunch and entertainment on agriculture director Larry Weiries' lawn.

Located on the fairgrounds next to Conservation World, "Local Officials Day" activities featured lunch, door prizes and an outstanding performance by the Decatur Park Singers. Participants were welcomed and addressed by Governor Jim Thompson, agriculture director Larry Weiries, IAPD executive director Ted Flickinger, DCCA director Jay R. Hedges and a host of other local leaders.

Thanks go out to the following co-sponsors for such an enjoyable event: Illinois Association of Park Districts, Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, the Office of the Comptroller, the Illinois Municipal League, the Township Officials of Illinois and the Illinois State Fair.
