For Service To Salvation Army

Donna McAllister receives award

Des Plaines City Clerk Donna McAllister was recently acknowledged for the time and effort she contributed to the Salvation Army as a Board Member and Service Unit Chairman by the Des Plaines Jaycees and Maine Township. Des Plaines City Clerk Donna McAllister was recently awarded the 1989 Des Plaines Jaycees Distinguished Service Award and Maine Township's Volunteer Recognition Award for the time and effort she contributed to the Salvation Army as a Board Member and Service Unit Chairman,

In addition to being responsible for the management of emergency revenue for individuals in need of food, housing and other supplies, McAllister was instrumental in establishing a Des Plaines Community Salvation Army Kettle at a local store which raised over $25,000 during the 1988 Christmas season. McAllister was also acknowledged for assisting the Salvation Army during the City's recent floods. In a cooperative effort, which McAllister helped to orchestrate, the Salvation Army provided supplies for clean up kits made available to local flood victims, while Maine West High School students assembled the kits. •
