HISTORIC "GOLDEN CORRIDOR
GOVERNMENT LEAGUE" ORGANIZED

November 16,1989 — The "charter" meeting of the "Golden Corridor Government League" was held with all nine (9) local governmental units represented.

The Township of Schaumburg, the Villages of Hoff-man Estates and Schaumburg, School Districts 54, 211 and 512, the Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg Park districts, and the Schaumburg Township District Library.

The historic meeting took place in the meeting center of Schaumburg Township. The "League" was organized over a period of eight (8) months by Richard M. Hetzer, Trustee, Schaumburg Township. The "Leagues" purpose is to foster an ongoing dialogue and determine solutions to mutual concerns of participating governmental units in the area.

The representatives agreed to exchange their Board meeting minutes, publications and discussed future needs and common interests. It is anticipated the formal meetings will take place four times a year. Eight (8) topics: Business/Industry Networking, Community Changes, Community Information, Legislation, Taxes, Transportation, Senior Citizens Needs and Youth Services were identified. Future meetings will address one or more of these topics and attempt to find solutions to the members concerns. Hetzer stated, "These meetings will serve to save our taxpayers money through intergovernmental cooperation in studies and the elimination of duplicate efforts and counter productive measures through the comradery developed by the representatives of the various governmental units. It is believed this is the first time all facets of local government in a given area have met together to discuss their common goals and objectives".
