This calendar is based upon the most current information, court decisions and legislation of which the League has knowledge as of the date of this publication. It supercedes similar information contained in all other League publications.

In every city and village which has a zoning ordinance, the zoning map must be published by March 31st, of each year if there has been any change in the boundaries of a district or if a new district has been created. (Chapter 24, paragraph 11-13-19.)

Members of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners are to be appointed by the Mayor or President where the Act has been adopted. The appointments may be made within 30 days of the expiration of the term of the Mayor or President. (Chapter 24, paragraphs 10-2.1-1; 10-2.1-2.)

POLICE OFFICER
Walnut, Illinois, a community of 1500 village residents, is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Police Officer to begin work immediately. The officer must live inside the village limits on the date his/her employment starts.

BUILDING AND ZONING OFFICER
The rapidly growing City of Crest Hill is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full time building inspector. Duties will include reviewing plans, preparing permits, making inspections, providing code interpretations and code enforcement, preparing reports and maintaining records, confer - ing with contractors and property owners to enforce state and municipal building codes. Knowledge of applicable local, state, and national building codes and regulations. Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints accurately. Necessary special requirements, valid Illinois drivers license, BOCA certification is desirable. State handicapped code knowledge. This is an appointed position with the full benefits of City employees. Starting salary is $30, 000 to $35, 000.

CITY PLANNER
An Illinois municipality of 20, 000 is seeking a City Planner (new position). Duties will include the development of area planning and land use programs; administration of zoning and code enforcement; direction of land use development studies;

supervision of requests for changes in zoning and use variance; and direction of the inspection of existing structures and new construction. Candidate should have 3 years experience in City Planning and Code Enforcement with a city of at least 15, 000. Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Village of Riverdale, Illinois (14, 000) seeks applications for Director of Community & Economic Development. This position develops and administers a variety of programs to foster neighborhood/housing reinvestment, industrial investment/job creation, and commercial district growth/stability. Qualifications include degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning or related field, and 3 to 5 years experience. Knowledge of Tax Increment Financing and Community Development Block Grant programs is required. Good analytical skills, creative problem solving, communication skills, and a proven track record in private-public partnerships considered essential. A Master's Degree, knowledge of other grant programs/creative financing techniques, and certification as a Housing Administrator considered a plus. Salary $30, 000 to $37, 000 DOQ plus fringe benefit package.

POLICE CHIEF
The City of Rock Island, Illinois (pop. 42, 000), located on the Mississippi River within the Quad Cities is accepting resumes for the position of Police Chief. This position is appointed by and reports to the City Manager. The position is responsible for directing the activities of the department comprised of 78 sworn officers and 32 civilian employees. Qualified applicants must possess thorough knowledge of principles and practices of police administration, methods and procedures. Minimum of 8 years progressively responsible supervisory law enforcement experience. Requires a degree in criminal justice, public administration or related field. Residency required within the boundaries of the City. Finalists will be required to submit to a physical examination, including drug testing, psychological examination and extensive background investigation. Salary range from $36, 411-$54, 400.

VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR

The Village Administrator will be responsible to the President and Board of Trustees for the administration and operation of all affairs and departments of the Village including co-ordinating efforts with the Clerk, Treasurer, Librarian and a public works staff of four.
