Hagstrom to Head Mayor's Panel

Quincy Mayor Verne Hagstrom was named recently to a new post with the United States Conference of Mayors.

Raymond Flynn, conference president and mayor of Boston, named Hagstrom chairman of the Subcommittee on City Relations of the Standing Committee on International Affairs.

J. Thomas Cochran, the conference's executive director, told Hagstrom of the appointment in a letter.

"Because of your effort and involvement with the conference and the nation's mayors. Mayor Flynn has asked that you serve as chair to lead us as we advocate our urban agenda," Cochran wrote . . .

Ms. Marianne Edwards, CMC/AAE, City Clerk of the City of Normal, Illinois, has been accepted into the SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP of the IIMC Academy for Advanced Education . . .

Mary M. Howerter, City Clerk, City of Havana, Illinois, has been awarded the designation of "Certified Municipal Clerk" (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) for achieving its high educational, experience, and service requirements . . .

Shirley A. Reimer, Deputy City Clerk, City of Sparta, Illinois, has been awarded the designation of "Certified Municipal Clerk" (CMC) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) for achieving its high educational, experience, and service requirements.

Ms. Reimer has been Deputy City Clerk of Sparta, Illinois, since 1979 . . .

Village Manager Joseph Block was recently elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the DuPage County Community Development Commission for 1991-92.

Composed of municipal representatives and DuPage County Board members, the Commission administers DuPage County's portion of the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Over the last three years, Addison has received over $1.3 million in Community Development Block Grants.

Block has served on the Commission, and served as Addison's Village Manager, since 1989.
