IAPD Completes Another Successful
Legislative Conference

Illinois Governor Jim Edgar speaks to the nearly 300 individuals who attended the Illinois
Association of Park Districts 13th Annual Legislative Conference. The Conference was held
April 24 at the Ramada Renaissance in Springfield. Governor Edgar expressed support for
parks and recreation during his keynote luncheon address, but also indicated his firm support
of a 5 percent property tax cap.

Lieutenant Governor Bob Kustra gave
an eloquent talk on the State's role in
education and its impact on other local
governmental services at the Legislative
Conference. Kustra echoed Governor
Edgar's strong support of education as
the State's number one concern and
explained how support of education
would affect park, recreation, conservation
and forest preserve agency tax monies.
