ANNUAL CONFERENCE CHANGE

The 1992 Annual Conference dates are October 8-11 at the Chicago Hilton and Towers.

The Illinois Municipal League Board of Directors have asked that the meeting days be changed to Thursday through Sunday rather than Friday through Monday. This change will better accommodate the officials of Southern Illinois who must travel over 400 miles to Chicago and return for council meetings on Monday evening.

Conference format will remain unchanged from previous years, just moved back one day. IML Committee meetings will be held on Thursday, various sessions formerly held on Saturday will be on Friday, sessions that were held on Sunday, including the General Business Session and Annual Banquet, will now be on Saturday. Workshops usually held on Monday will be on Sunday following religious services. The conference will close with the Annual Luncheon on Sunday.

Because of record attendance at the conference a change will be made in the registration and hotel reservation procedures.

Each member municipality will receive a conference registration and hotel reservation form to be completed and returned to this office. Upon receipt of this form by the League, we will forward your hotel accommodation needs to the Hilton Hotel. You will receive confirmation directly from the hotel.

Last year was a real problem due to many municipalities making hotel reservations early and then as the conference date drew near flooding the hotel with cancellations. Also, there were many commercial types and non-registered individuals reserving rooms, denying registered municipal officials space at the Hilton.

This will mean more work for the League. However, it will assure that those entitled to a room at the Hilton will have one.

The Hilton will only accept reservations on the official form forwarded to them through the League office. Arrangements by telephone will not be accepted. •
