DES PLAINES MAYOR NAMED TO MAYOR'S CONFERENCE NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Des Plaines Mayor D. Michael Albrecht was recently requested by the President of the United States Conference of Mayors, Boston Mayor Raymond Flynn, to serve on the Nominating Committee of the Conference of Mayors.

The Constitution of the United States Conference of Mayors states:

The Nominating Committee shall recommend to the membership at the Annual Meeting the names of Mayors to fill the positions of Officers, Trustees and Advisory Board members. The Nominating Committee is appointed by the President and serves for one year. The prime consideration of the Nominating Committee shall be service and ability. In addition, the Nominating Committee shall consider race, sex, political affiliation, city size and region. In an effort to make the leadership of the Conference reasonably reflective of its membership, the Nominating Committee shall seek to maintain a balance of these characteristics in its recommendations for nominations for officers of the Conference.

The following now comprise the Nominating Committee roster: Mayor Greg Sparrow, DeKalb, IL, Chair; Mayors Robert M. Isaac, Colorado Springs, CO, Joseph Riley, Charleston, SC, and Coleman A. Young, Detroit, MI, Past Presidents; and Mayors D. Michael Albrecht, Des Plaines, IL, Vincent A. Cianci, Jr., Providence, RI, J.E. Bud Clark, Portland, OR, Kane Ditto, Jackson, MS, John R. McCarthy, Everett, MA, Douglas H. Palmer, Trenton, NJ, Anne Rudin, Sacramento, CA, Wilbur C. Smith, III, Fort Myers, FL and Karen Vialle, Tacoma, WA, Members.

The Conference provides an excellent means for mayors across the country to network and lobby for common causes.
