FIRE CHIEF

The Village of Riverdale, a progressive southern suburb of Chicago with a population of 13,600 and a budget of $9.2 million, is recruiting for the position of fire chief. The fire chief is a key member of the mayor and village board's staff and acts as the building commissioner and zoning administrator. The fire chief directs all activities and personnel involved to building, electrical, health, plumbing, and zoning inspections. The fire chief also directs all aspects of fire prevention, suppression, emergency medical services and the administration, revision and implementation of fire and inspectional service codes. Requires a degree in fire science, public administration or a related field, or a combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of five years full time experience as a chief or assistant chief. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record in management skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary commensurate with experience.

CHIEF OF POLICE

The Village of Hawthorn Woods (pop. 4500) seeks an innovative leader to develop and manage a full-time/full service police department. Hawthorn Woods is a prestigious residential community located approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago. The Chief of Police reports to the Village Administrator and will direct the 12 members of the Police Department. Salary range is $38,600-$54,400, with actual salary dependent upon qualifications. High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred and five years of progressively responsible experience in a variety of police functions. Commitment to a community policing philosophy and strong motivational and interpersonal leadership skills, as well as experience as a manager in a suburban law enforcement setting is highly desirable.

CITY MANAGER

Rapidly developing rural city located fifty miles from St. Louis, with major industrial development underway. MBA or MPA with extensive experience in municipal management, economic development, and capital improvements supervision desired.

CIVIL ENGINEER

The Village of Vernon Hills (population 15,320), located approximately 25 miles northwest of Chicago in Lake County, is seeking applicants with experience in municipal engineering to assist in the inspection and control of public and private improvements; the design of public works projects and development of bid specifications; complaint investigation; and a variety of related field and office engineering assignments. Must hold or be able to obtain an Engineer-in-Training certificate, PC experience desirable. The position reports to the Director of Public Works. Salary range $36,288 to $47,132.
