BIOGRAPHIES

Roger B. Beck, Associate Professor of History at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, teaches African and Third World history and social studies methods. He also supervises student teachers for history and social studies.

Catherine E. Breen teaches Social Studies and Language Arts at Old Orchard Junior High School in Skokie, Illinois. She earned her B.A. in History and Political Science at Tufts University, and she will receive her M.Ed. in 1995 from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Angelina Corsale, B.A. (History) and M.A. (Social Science) teaches at Juarez High School in Chicago. Born in Italy and raised in Belgium, she is well aware of the concept of multiculturalism. Her teaching is aimed at relating history to human experience.

Gerald A. Danzer is a Professor of History at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he directs an M.A. program for teachers of history.

Daniel L. Dickens teaches intermediate students in Blue Grass, Iowa. He participated in "The Bill of Rights in the Elementary Classroom" workshop funded by The Bill of Rights Education Consortium/APSA, Pew Charitable Trusts (BREC).

F. Delaine Donaldson is a lifelong resident of Effingham County and the Social Studies Department chair at Effingham High School. He is in his twenty-ninth year of teaching history. While serving as a member of a regional tourism group known as The Cumberland Road Project, he studied in depth the history of the Cumberland Road and its impact socially, economically, and politically on four counties in Illinois along the road.

Teacher

Mary Ann Johnson, director, Jane Addams' Hull-House Museum, University of Illinois at Chicago, is responsible for interpreting this historic site. She also has special interests in public, neighborhood, ethnic, and women's history. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Historical Encyclopedia of Chicago Women project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Robert H. Lombard is Associate Professor of Social Science Education at Western Illinois University. Dr. Lombard was co-director of "The Bill of Rights in the Elementary Classroom" workshop funded through BREC.

Janet A. Lueby holds a B.A. in History from North Park College and an M.A. in Geography and Environmental Science from Northeastern Illinois University. She presently teaches U.S. History and World Geography at Springman Junior High School in Glenview, Illinois, and a Social Studies methods class at North Park College in Chicago.

Charles Titus, a member of the History Department at Eastern Illinois University and a native Illinoisan, has worked in the area of history education with Delaine Donaldson. Donaldson's article here grew from course work begun with Titus some time ago.
