Cookin' Illinois

Illinois Products Cookbook, Department of Agriculture, P.O. Box 19281, State Fair Grounds, Springfield 62794-9281 (February 1995, second printing), 61 pp.

As the hot summer winds down and the family chef begins to think about creating masterpieces in a warm and cozy kitchen, he or she may want to turn to a cookbook featuring products made or grown in Illinois. It is divided into convenient categories: appetizers, breakfast/breads, beverages (only two in this one), salads, snacks, sauces, meats/casseroles/ entrees (two dozen listings), fish/poultry/seafood and desserts. The last two pages contain a list of the businesses (with addresses) that contributed recipes. Unfortunately, the compilers didn't include an index, but the pamphlet is small enough that the reader can find items of interest by looking through the table of contents or simply leafing through the pages.
