THE PHYSICIST AND THE SCHOOL The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy might be called our first state-supported "charter school." As officials debate creating schools free of regulations, the academy has reason to celebrate. The school for gifted kids, the brainchild of Nobel Laureate Leon M.
