CHIEF OF POLICE

The City of Springfield, IL, population of 106,000 with 238 sworn officers, invites applications for the position of Chief of Police. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive background in community law enforcement including experience as a line supervisor as well as management experience in a collective bargaining environment. A bachelor's degree is desired in addition to extensive professional law enforcement training. All applicants will be required to submit an application portfolio that includes professional references, a comprehensive resume and an original document of approximately five pages explaining their understanding of current community law enforcement issues.

CITY ADMINISTRATOR

City of Oak Forest (26,000 pop.) S.W. Chicago Sub. Home Rule — Mayor/Seven Alderman Council. Indefinite term of appointment by Mayor with approval of City Council. Salary $50-$60K with benefits. Established but still growing community with Lake Michigan water and Cook County sewer system. Moderate commercial and industrial areas. Responsible for operation of all departments, committees and commissions, and coordination of full time heads of Unionized Police, Fire and Public Works, Administrative, Building, Finance and Economic Development departments. (Approximately 110 employees total) $6 Million General Revenue — $3 Million Water and Sewer Revenue. Ordinance specifies duties and appointment on basis of academic training, administrative and executive experience in the field of municipal government. SUPERINTENDENT OF RANGER OPERATIONS
LAKE COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT

Responsible for all aspects of the ranger function, including providing protection to the public using the forest preserves, protection of natural resources and buildings, supervising six full-time Ranger Police and thirty part-time Rangers. Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, criminal justice, public administration or a related field. Seven years of progressively responsible related work experience in conservation law enforcement (including field experience), recreation and natural resource management, supervision of law enforcement officers, and budget management. Must have completed basic police training approved by the State of Illinois. Salary $38,000-$48,000.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

The Village of Tinley Park, a rapidly growing southwest suburb of Chicago with a population of 40.000+, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Economic Development Coordinator. Position requires a degree in business, finance or a related field. Masters degree preferred. Candidates with a Masters degree in Public Administration must have considerable undergraduate work in finance or business administration. Experience in economic development in either a public or private environment and an ability to analyze corporate balance sheets is highly desirable. The Economic Development Coordinator will be responsible for developing and carrying out economic development strategies and programs as approved by the Village Board of Tinley Park. Candidate will work directly with the Village's Industrial/Commercial Commission and Economic Development Commission developing marketing programs. Annual salary mid-$30,000s range depending on qualifications. Residency required within one year of appointment.
