Nothing But Net: A Selected Bibliography of Using the Internet for Reference

Carolyn M. Mulac

At the 1995 Annual Conference of the Illinois Library Association, the Reference Forum sponsored a program entitled "Hitch a Ride With Us: Reference Librarians on the Internet." This bibliography is an expanded version of the one I prepared for that program.

Although it may seem that anything printed about the Internet becomes outdated once ink hits paper, there are nevertheless a number of interesting articles in the literature on its usefulness in reference work. The purpose of this bibliography is to point them out and offer a low-tech way to learn more about the omnipresent Net and its possibilities as a reference tool. The 47 articles cited cover Internet basics, examples of actual reference use. Internet resources for specific subjects, and ethical, philosophical and managerial considerations.
