Volume 30, Number 2 • March/April 1999 To play well on this 9,000-square-foot green requires some local knowledge or a careful eye, says D.W. Davis, director of golf for the Rend Lake Conservancy District. About #18, Davis says: "It's 45 steps from the front to the back of the green. There are a lot of bunkers, a fairway and two green-side bunkers that come into play." The course, considered a hidden Illinois treasure, is reminiscent of a park with large trees and mature timber. The hole is one of 18 signatures showcased in a special feature that begins on page 27. Photograph by Keith Cotton of Keith Cotton Studios, Cobden, III.
