works profession—whether for members of the AWWA or not. Seventy-five years of experience of thousands of men has been combined to form the foundation of this important society. In every part of the water works field, its committees have been busy preparing specifications for the physical material purchased and used throughout the distribution, for the chemicals used in the softening and filtration plants. Safety manuals have been prepared for the employees and the public. Studies have been made of pollution, contamination, radio-active wastes, synthetic detergents and the demand of water for air conditioning. Pamphlets dealing with public and employee relations have been prepared and newspaper copy ready for publication, sent out. This Organization has sponsored the national water sources policy, fostered committees for prevention of water shortages and has performed many other beneficial works too numerous to mention, all of which are of vital importance to the water works people.

A membership in the American Water Works Association brings you the benefit of all of these studies and investigations. It brings you a monthly Journal of the best scientific information on water works technical subjects, abstracts, news, reports, etc. It brings you a bi-monthly bulletin on safety and national defense relations. It brings you a directory of all the important people in the water works industry. It gives you membership in the Illinois Section. It brings you professional recognition among other water works people of the State. A membership in AWWA is recommended and urged by the State Department of Health.

Individual memberships are only $10 per year and the only requirement is that you are engaged or interested in the water works profession. A municipal service membership is $15 and permits the municipality to designate the membership from time to time as employment changes, one employee being delegated to represent the municipality.
