UTILITIES DIRECTOR HONORED

S. T. Anderson

A testimonial luncheon was held in Springfield on June 3rd, honoring S. T. (Andy) Anderson, Utilities' Director of the City of Springfield's City Water, Light and Power Department, upon his latest accomplishment—his recent election to the presidency of the American Public Power Association. The APPA is a national organization representing more than 800 publicly owned electric utilities in 40 States, Puerto Rico and Alaska.

S. T. Anderson, known affectionately as "Andy," began his career with the City Water, Light and Power Department, September 1st, 1936, as assistant general superintendent; in 1938, he was promoted to general superintendent and in 1955 his title was changed to Utilities' Director. From 1938 to the present time, he has been in charge of the operation, maintenance and construction of all City Water, Light and Power Department operations, with a gross income today of $5,000,000.
