Special Announcement

The joint committee of IAPD-IPRS, appointed at the 1969 convention, is pleased to make its progress report. The committee was appointed to investigate ways in which the Association and the Society could cooperate for mutual benefit. Many discussions were held.

For many years the Society and the Association have joined in an annual convention each fall in an outstanding example of joint cooperation.

The committee made recommendations for a full cooperative effort to both organizations in the late spring. These recommendations were accepted unanimously by both Boards of Directors and the committee was instructed to implement the cooperative effort.

You are reading the first issue of the new combined magazine. The separate magazine of each are now combined for better communication for all. Printers deadlines make it impossible to publish the resolutions in this issue. You will receive a complete report in the next issue.

The Society has obtained office space adjacent to the Association offices in Springfield so that many administrative functions can be combined for greater efficiencies. Each organization will pay its own way.

The Association has employed an experienced editor for the combined magazine and to act as Director of Communications. He will also act as Executive Director for the Society.

This cooperative effort will result in many benefits for both groups, and will result in more complete services being available for the local Park and Recreation groups in Illinois.
