Mary Hemmerling is the new Recreation Supervisor I for the Franklin Park Park District.
She is a 1965 Graduate of Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin, with a major in Liberal Arts. She has previously been employed as a market research supervisor, medical secretary, medical clinic coordinator, and surgical reservationist.
Her duties as Supervisor I, will include direction of girls and womens activities.




Thomas G. Klavik, former Superintendent of Recreation for the Franklin Park Park District, is the new Child Care Coordinator at the Illinois Masonic Children's Home in La Grange.
In his new position, Klavik will have responsibility for all programs and staff care personnel, school, community programs and any other related activities.
He also served as a probation officer for the Cook County Juvenile court. In all, Klavik has thirty years of youth and recreation service.




Robert E. Bland has been appointed Director of Recreation for the city of Charleston after serving the department as a recreation supervisor on a part time basis.
An army Veteran of the Vietnam conflict, Bland is a recent graduate of Eastern Illinois University at Charleston with a degree in Recreation.
While on a part-time basis with the Recreation Department, he was cited for expanding the recreation programs in Charleston with no additional cost to the taxpayers.
He is active in a number of organizations including the Illinois Park and Recreation Society, where he served as president of the Student Section.




Michael W. Judd has recently been selected as Director of Parks and Recreation for the Wood Dale Park District. Before electing civilian life, Judd was a lieutenant in the Navy and served two years as Special Services Officer at Naval Air Station, Meridian, Mississippi. Judd is a graduate of Indiana University.




Charles E. Westphal has been appointed Exec. Director of the Springfield Recreation Commission replacing Herschel Moore who resigned (in a department reorganization). The appointment was effective June 1st.
Chuck is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has a bachelors degree in Physical Education. He has held teaching and coaching positions in Wyoming and Illinois dating back to 1955.
Westphal had been employed by the recreation commission as athletic director, a post he held on a part-time basis in addition to his teaching job.




The Franklin Park Park District, has announced the hiring of Michael Lucchesi as Recreation Supervisor I. Lucchesi attended Arizona State University as a drama major. During the past two years he has been involved in various dramatic organizations throughout the Chicago area as well as being Drama Supervisor for the Franklin Park Park District.
Lucchesi's duties as supervisor will include direction of the drama, drill team, water ballet, and guitar programs as well as supervision of the teen drop-in center.




Daniel L. Newport was recently appointed to the position of Superintendent of Recreation for the Elmhurst Park District.
Dan had been serving the Oak Park Recreation Department as assistant director of recreation.
He is a graduate of Western Illinois University with a degree in Recreation and Park Administration.
Newport is active with the Illinois Park & Recreation Society and is presently serving on the Annual Conference Committee.
