TAX RATES AVAILABLE FOR PARK DISTRICTS, FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICTS AND CONSERVATION DISTRICTS

The following tax rates are presently in effect for Park Districts, Forest Preserve Districts and Conservation Districts in the State of Illinois. The purpose of this listing is to assist officials of the availability of revenue which may be used to finance their respective services and programs.

Provisions of this listing should be reviewed very carefully and not acted upon without the advice of your Legal Counsel.

PARK DISTRICTS (Of less than 500,000 inhabitants)

Airport—.075% (7 1/2¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). .................. C. 105, p. 9-2a

Referendum required.

Aquarium and Museum—.015% (1 1/2 ¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). ......... C. 105, p. 327

Corporate—.1% (10¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). Rates do not include taxfor bonded indebtedness and taxes authorized by special referenda. .. C. 105, p. 5-1

Corporate (Additional)—.05% (5¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). ............ C. 105, p. 5-3

Referendum required.

Conservatory—.05% (5¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). .................... C. 105, p. 5-7

Referendum required.

Pensions—No rate limit. A rate which when added to all other receipts, will be sufficient to meet the requirements of the pension fund, exclusive of all other rates extended ............. C. 108%, P. 7-171

City Recreation Commission—.09% (9¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). Park district assumes rate being levied by city, village or incorporated town upon a 2/3 vote of the park board and the governing board of the city, village and incorporated town to merge the Playground and Recreation Commission with the park district. ............... C. 105, p. 5-2a, p. 5-2b

Recreation—.075% (7 1/2¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). May be increased to .12% (12¢ per $100 of assessed valuation) by referendum. ................ C. 105, p. 5-2

Paving and Lighting Streets and Roadways— .005% (1/2 ¢ per $100 of assessed valuation). Must be authorized by referendum except in Park Districts organized after July 1, 1963. ............. C. 105, p. 5-6

Public Benefit—.025% (2 1/2¢ per $100 assessed valuation). ........... C. 105, p. 7-5

Referendum required.

BONDS AND INTEREST

Airport—No rate limit. But rate for bonds is set off against rate allowed for Airport Fund, unless improvements are required to conform to Federal or State standards. If tax exceeds Airport Fund rate, then only rate for bonds will be extended. Authorized by referendum. .... C. 105, p. 9-2b p. 6-6

Corporate Purposes—No rate limit. Referendum required if aggregate indebtedness will exceed .5% of assessed value. .......... C. 105, p. 6-2, 6-3, p. 6-4, 6-6

Playground & Athletic Field—No rate limit

Bonds issued to match grant or donation. If amount of bond issue exceeds $5,000 or .066 % of taxable property, referendum must be held .......... C. 105, p. 255.28, p. 255.29, p. 255.36

Refunding—No rate limit. To repay existing indebtedness. .................. C. 105, p. 6-1, 255.19, 255.20

FOREST PRESERVE

Corporate—.025% (2 1/2¢ per $100 of assessed valuation) in districts of less than 1,000,000 inhabitants. In districts of 1,000,000 or more inhabitants, .035% (3 1/2¢) or rate which will produce not in excess of $3,800,000, whichever is greater ...................... C. 57 1/2 p. 14.1

Bonds—No rate limit. Referendum is required under specified circumstances .... C. 57 1/2 p. 14

Bonds Refunding—No rate limit. To fund payment of existing indebtedness. ... C. 57 1/2 p. 39 p. 40

Bonds, Working Cash Fund—No rate limit. Applicable to districts of more than 500,000 inhabitants .......... C. 57 1/2 P. 15 al

Construction & Development—.015% (1 1/2¢ per per $100 of assessed valuation) in districts of 1,000,000 or more inhabitants. .025% (2 1/2¢ in districts of over 100,000 and less than 1,000,000 population. .. C. 57 1/2 p. 14.1

Employees annuity and benefit fund—.00121% (1.21 mills per $100 of assessed valuation) or rate which will produce $229,000, whichever is higher, for the year 1972. For each year after 1972, .00126% (1.26 mills or rate which will produce $239,000, whichever is higher. Applicable in Districts having more than 500,000 inhabitants. ............... Zoological Park—.0058% (5.8 mills per $100 of assessed valuation). Districts of 150,000 or more population. .. . C. 57% p. 18-19

Botanic Garden—.0048% (4.8 mills per $100 of assessed valuation). Districts over 200,000 population. ........... C. 57% p. 20.02

CONSERVATION DISTRICTS

Corporate—0.025% for the general purposes of the district including acquisition and development of real property. With a limit of not more than 0.075% of the equalized assessed valuation of the district ...................... C. 57 1/2, p. 113

Land Acquisition—Tax rate of 0.075% but not to exceed 0.25% of the equalized assessed valuation of the district. .................... C. 57 1/2, p. 113.2

Bonds—No rate limit. Referendum required. ................... C. 57 1/2, p. 115.1
