Sterling Park District Contributes to Olympics

Pictured above is Al Feverbach, a 1972 Olympic participant, with the Sterling Park District president, William E. Eberly during a park district recognition night honoring the star shot putter.

Al Feverbach, a recent Olympic participant representing the United States in the shot put was a past participant in the Sterling Park District Programs.

He was a member of the Sterling Park District Track Club for four seasons from 1966 through 1969.

He holds the indoor world record for the shot put with a 69' 10 1/2" effort. The record was set earlier this year.

Although Al did not place at Munich, it is considered a tremendous honor to make the team and compete with the world's best. It is also a high tribute to the Sterling Park District to have participants of this caliber active in their sports program.
