"THE PET MENAGERIE"

What better way to climax a fun-filled summer than with a colorful, exciting- Penny Carnival.

In the Park District of Forest Park this thrilling event claims the honor of being the favorite because moms, dads, little brothers and sisters are all invited and because the children themselves enter into the preparation and planning of the carnival. They create their own booths out of large cardboard boxes which they paint with carnival colors. They make up their own games, mint their own paper money (which is sold to the congenial public at 100 pieces for $1.00), make their own cold drinks, and bake delectable goodies which are gobbled up in record time.

Creating animals for the menagerie invites 100% participation and several weeks preparation. The animals are fashioned out of chicken wire and layer-upon-layer of paper mache. They are painted with glowing colors, unlike any found in the jungle, and finished with 3" lashes, beautiful big eyes, manes, tails, and all other features necessary to make them the envy of all their counterparts. The cover shows a beguiling, mischievous 7 ft. giraffe, one of the animals in the Forest Park menagerie, flanked by 4 of the frolicking clowns.
