"1st Annual Workshop"

By John Bruits

Group discussions at the Workshop.
In February eighty students from the state of Illinois gathered at the Freeport Park Districts Oakdale Nature Camp for the first annual I.P.R.S. Student Branch Workshop. Being the first of its type in the nation, it proved very successful.

The theme "I'm ready to recreate" set the atmosphere as students attended sessions on subjects such as, Program Development, Special Facilities, and Community Education. During the evening hours of the workshop, students engaged in square dancing and utilized the park district's equipment and facilities for outdoor winter activities.

Participation sums up the entire weekend as students from eight schools who serve on the I.P.R.S. Student Branch Campus Council developed and sponsored the workshop from start to finish. Congratulations to these students for the great job in providing an opportunity for continuing education for all the students in Illinois.
