SOCIETY NOTES

By Kay Kastel

KAY KASTEL

This month the new IPRS officers and board take office. It is important for you as a member to get to know these people. They are your representatives and voice in the activities of your organization.

Therefore it is of great importance for all members to attend the IPRS annual meeting at the conference on Friday, November 22, 1974, 11 A.M. in the Grand Ballroom. The new officers will be installed and several year-end reports will be given. Find out what IPRS has done and plans to do in the future—attend the annual meeting.

Our conference, because of its top quality, continues to grow each year. Due to the size of facilities, down state and at our conference site, many of you will not be lodged directly in the conference hotel, but may be several blocks away. We hope that this will not discourage your attendance.

We urge all of you attending the conference to make sure you use the suggestion box. In order for the committees to plan a better all-around conference, we need to know what you like and dislike. Please be sure to fill in all evaluations.

Congratulations to the Zion Park District and the Arlington Heights Park District for being finalists in the Gold Medal Awards program. Illinois is one of the top states in excellence of park and recreation programs, and credit should go to districts such as these for their involvement.

Sports and Activities Tournament Schedules will be available at the State Conference. Make sure your district gets a copy.

Last month I forgot to credit Richard Derk of The Trib with the pictures of the article from Park Ridge entitled "Westward Ho."

I will be absent from the IPRS office for a few weeks this month, as I'll be on my honeymoon. Bear with me in answering your correspondence and messages.

Don't forget IPRS dues are payable NOW before the conference. More applications are available at the office.

See you at the conference!

IAPD and IPRS believe that the democratic process functions best through frank and open discussion. Material published in this magazine, therefore often presents divergent and controversial points of view which do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the two sponsoring organizations.
