House beats Senate
THE ILLINOIS House won the annual House-Senate softball game, 12-11, on an extra-inning sacrifice fly May 28. The winning pitcher was rookie right-hander Harold Byers (D., Highland). It was the eighth loss in a row for the Senators.

SIU School of Medicine
THE INTENTIONS of the 1965 General Assembly in passing legislation creating the second public medical school in Illinois were realized with the graduation of 24 persons as the First class of doctors from the SIU School of Medicine on June 8. They received their diplomas in the rotunda of the Capitol.

No state tax on rebates
TAXPAYERS of the state need not pay state taxes on federal income tax rebate checks, according to Robert Allphin, director of the Department of Revenue. Since the rebates will not be taxed federally, the state may not tax them either because the state tax "piggybacks" the federal system.
