SEMINAR A SUCCESS The 9th Annual Commissioners' and Board Members' Seminar was held at the Ramada Inn in Champaign on April 4 & 5, 1975. The Seminar is sponsored by the Office of Recreation and Park Resources of the University of Illinois in cooperation with the IPRS, IAPD, and the Cooperative Extension Service of the College of Agriculture. Attendance at this year's Seminar by a large number of park districts who have not previously attended was due to the program which focused on board members' responsibilities. Lawrence Gahan of the Clemson, South Carolina Parks and Recreation Board and Lorraine Rouget of the Mount Vernon, New York Recreation Commission performed an exceptional job as workshop directors for the Seminar with a program designed by the Board and Commission Members Branch of the National Recreation and Park Association. The Friday night banquet speaker was Dr. Milton Derber, formerly with the National Labor Relations Board, speaking on collective bargaining in the public sector. Commissioners in attendance rated the Seminar highly and the Planning Committee is at work on next year's program. Any suggestions should be directed to Susan Stone, Commissioner for the Ur-bana Park District, at 1501 North Broadway, Urbana or to Dr. George Lowrey, Office of Recreation and Park Resources, 312 Armory Building, Champaign. ____________________________________ IPRS AWARD NOMINATIONS DUE by Craig Hubert August 15, 1975, is the deadline to receive nominations for this years IPRS Awards.
