SOCIETY NOTES

By Kay Kastel

KATE KASTEL

The 1974 Annual Park & Recreation Conference was a great success. We would like all the members to contribute their suggestions and program ideas for 1975. Jack Claes, conference chairman, has already begun to organize the committee. Please send your comments to the Society office before February 10—we need membership imput.

Congratulations are in order for Jack Claes, Harold Brown and the entire conference committee for the planning of an excellent conference.

Jack White, I.P.R.S. president, has stated that communication is essential to the operation of the Society. Board members have been selected to report I.P.R.S. business at the meetings of S.P.R.A., North Shore, M.I.P.E., S.I.P.R.A., S.S.P.R.A., C.I.R.C.L.E., and Progressive.

It is your job as a member to give the Board members your feedback.

In order to flourish and become more meaningful it is necessary for I.P.R.S. to develop goals and assess where they are going in the future. A special task force has been formed to develop a future perspective for the Society. It is important for all members to communicate their ideas to the task force. More information will be available regarding the study at a later date.

The I.P.R.S. annual historical report was distributed at the annual meeting. Additional copies can be obtained through the Society office. Thanks goes to Chuck Paxton and the Zion Park District for assembling the report.

In order for a member to be listed in the 1975 I.P.R.S. directory, membership dues must be received in the office by January 27, 1975. The directory is scheduled to be mailed early in April to all members. Anyone who pays dues after January 27th will not be included in the directory.

Congratulations are in order for the Medinah Park District who recently passed a bond issue for $660,000 for land acquisition and development.

Don't forget to pay your I.P.R.S. dues now.

See you next issue.

IAPD and IPRS believe that the democratic process functions best through frank and open discussion. Material published in this magazine, therefore often presents divergent and controversial points of view which do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the two sponsoring organizations.
