SOCIETY NOTES

By Kay Kastel Forest

The IPRS members should be aware of several activities which the Society has planned.

Special Task Force

A Special Task Force has been appointed to study the goals, organization, operation and future of the Society. All members will have the opportunity for input into the study through a questionnaire and special state meetings. If you have ideas on the future of IPRS, its goals, its services and its direction, please contact one of the committee members: The following are members of the Task Force Committee: Dick Johns, Chairman (Glenview); Fred Thompson (Belleville); John Joyce (Park Forest); Owen Thomas (Evanston); Ron Blemler (Normal); Sandra Little (Park Ridge); Bob Toalson (Champaign); Ted Kavadas (Highland Park); Frank Lupton (W.I.U.); Joe Bannon (U. of I.); Dick Norris (Parkland College); Frank Benedict (Manteno); Angelo Capulli (Arlington Hts.); Jack Fogel (Rock Island); Marilyn Stroud (Gurnee); Dale Hench (Springfield).

Lecture and Technical Assistance Series

Since continuing education should be an important asset to any professional, the IPRS Workshop Committee has planned an exciting Lecture & Technical Assistance Series for the members. (See page 28 for details). This is a direct membership benefit and is free of charge to executives, administrators and supervisors. Other members and guests can register for a small fee. Sessions will be conducted by experts in the fields of administration, communications, and sociology. Registration information will be sent to all members.

Revenue Producing Facilities Seminar

Because of the growing interest and number of revenue facilities, IPRS has planned a special seminar on indoor tennis, artificial ice, and golf courses. The Program will consist of a two day in depth study of each of the topics and special on site institutes. Members of IPRS and IAPD and interested guests are welcomed to participate on May 8 and 9. Each participant will be able to attend sessions on only one topic. However, the program will reoccur with new facility topics added each year.

Cost is $50.00 per person and includes 2 lunches, 1 dinner buffet, tours and special entertainment of the best amateur ice show in Illinois "Northbrook on Ice."

For registration information contact the IPRS office, 600 E. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. Phone (312) 297-6261.

IAPD and IPRS believe that the democratic process functions best through frank and open discussion. Material published in this magazine, therefore often presents divergent and controversial points of view which do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the two sponsoring organizations.
